Zakat Help
Founded with a mission to combat poverty and hunger, ZakatHelp has grown from a small initiative to an international organization.
We have one clear goal: to provide assistance and relief to those in need. Our mission began in Uganda, working with the homeless community in Mbale, where we provided hot meals to those in need. As we saw the extent of the crisis, our efforts expanded, and to date, we have:
- Distributed over 5,000 food parcels, clothing, and bedding to vulnerable individuals in Uganda.
- Supported communities worldwide with food, clothing, education, shelter, and clean water.
- Provided emergency aid to those affected by war, natural disasters, drought, and conflict.
We believe that no donation is too small, and every penny given in search of Allah’s mercy will bring goodness and reward, insha’Allah.
What is Zakat?
Before the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the end of Ramadan, every adult Muslim who possesses food beyond their immediate needs must pay Zakat al-Fitr for themselves. The head of the household is also responsible for paying Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of dependents, including children, elderly relatives, and even servants.
Key points about Zakat al-Fitr:
It must be paid during Ramadan, before the Eid al-Fitr prayer, ensuring the poor can celebrate Eid.
The minimum amount due is the equivalent of 2 kg of staple food (such as wheat flour, rice, or dates) per person.
A safe estimate is £5 or US$7 per person.
Zakat al-Fitr can be distributed directly to those in need or given through a charitable organization.
